Ecommerce SEO pricing by store size
Agencies ask for the product count first, and price mostly by what that number implies: how many category pages need copy, how many templates need technical work and how much content and outreach it takes to compete. The ranges below are typical US prices for a monthly package from an agency that does the work with people.
| Store | Typical monthly price | What the money buys |
|---|---|---|
| Up to about 100 products, one market | 1 000 to 2 000 USD | Technical cleanup, 5 to 10 category and product pages reworked, one or two new pages and a few links a month |
| 100 to 1 000 products | 1 500 to 3 500 USD | Full technical audit with fixes, category copy for the main tree, 2 to 6 new pages and 2 to 6 links a month |
| 1 000 to 10 000 products | 3 500 to 7 500 USD | Faceted navigation and duplicate control, 6 to 14 new pages, 6 to 14 links, structured data and feed checks |
| More than 10 000 products, several markets or brands | 7 500 to 15 000 USD and more | The above across several sites or languages, digital PR, migration support and stakeholder reporting |
Treat the first row with care. A store with a small catalog in a crowded category, such as supplements or phone cases, needs more content and more links than a store with 5 000 industrial parts and little competition. The product count sets the technical scope. The competition sets the rest.
What an ecommerce SEO package should include
Two packages at the same price can differ by a factor of three in what gets delivered. The table shows the deliverables that move organic revenue for a store and the monthly quantities that are normal at each level. Use it as a checklist against any proposal.
| Deliverable | Entry package | Mid package | Upper package |
|---|---|---|---|
| Technical audit and re-crawls | At kickoff | At kickoff, then monthly | Continuous, with release checks |
| Technical fixes implemented, not only listed | Up to 10 a month | Up to 25 a month | 50 and more a month |
| Keywords tracked and mapped to pages | 25 to 50 | About 100 | 300 and more |
| New category, landing or guide pages | 1 to 2 a month | 4 to 6 a month | 10 to 15 a month |
| Existing pages rewritten | 1 to 2 a month | About 4 a month | 8 and more a month |
| Editorial links | 0 to 2 a month | 4 to 6 a month | 10 to 15 a month |
| Product structured data and feed checks | Basic | Included | Included, per template |
| Report tied to organic orders and revenue | Monthly | Monthly | Monthly, plus custom views |
The line that separates a real package from a cheap one is the second row. A list of 400 issues that nobody fixes changes nothing, and most store owners do not have a developer waiting for tickets. Ask every provider who implements the fixes and how many per month are included. For the category work itself, our guide to ecommerce category page SEO shows what a finished page looks like.
Ecommerce SEO pricing by platform
The platform changes the price because it changes who can fix things. On a hosted platform an SEO team can change most settings itself. On an open platform more of the work needs a developer, and the catalog is usually larger.
| Platform | Typical monthly package | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify | 1 500 to 5 000 USD | Fixed URL structure and fewer server issues, so more of the budget goes to collections, content and links |
| WooCommerce | 1 500 to 5 000 USD | Flexible, with plugin conflicts, attribute archives and hosting speed to manage |
| BigCommerce | 2 000 to 6 000 USD | Good defaults, faceted search and multi-storefront setups add scope on larger catalogs |
| Magento and Adobe Commerce | 2 500 to 10 000 USD | Layered navigation, duplicate product URLs and a heavy default theme, and most fixes need a developer |
| Custom or headless storefront | 3 500 to 12 000 USD | Rendering has to be checked template by template and every fix is a code change |
If your store runs on Shopify or Magento, the Shopify SEO agency and Magento SEO agency pages describe the platform work in detail.
Monthly package, hourly, project or revenue share
| Model | Typical price | Fits | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly package | 1 500 to 7 500 USD per month | Stores that need ongoing fixes, content and links | Minimum terms, setup fees and deliverables with no numbers |
| Hourly consulting | 100 to 250 USD per hour | A store with its own team that needs senior direction | Advice without implementation |
| One-time project | 2 500 to 15 000 USD | An audit, a migration or a category restructure | The findings wait in a backlog after the project ends |
| Revenue share or pay for performance | A base fee plus 5 to 15 percent of organic revenue growth | Stores with clean tracking and a long history | Disputes over attribution, and brand searches counted as agency wins |
Most stores end up on a monthly package, because ecommerce SEO is recurring work: new products arrive, categories change and competitors publish. The useful question is whether the package is a fixed scope at a fixed price or a block of hours. A fixed scope tells you what you will get. A block of hours tells you only what you will pay. Our breakdown of what an SEO retainer costs at each tier covers the same question for other business types.
Affordable ecommerce SEO packages and what gets cut
Searches for affordable and low cost ecommerce SEO packages usually lead to offers between 300 and 900 USD per month. Some are honest small scopes. Many are automated. The arithmetic explains why: at a US rate of 100 USD per hour, a 500 USD package buys five hours a month for strategy, technical work, writing, outreach and reporting together.
- Content is the first thing cut. Instead of written category pages you get edited title tags and meta descriptions.
- Links come from a network. The same list of sites is sold to every client, which is the pattern Google's spam policies describe.
- Fixes are listed, not made. The monthly report repeats the same tool warnings.
- Reporting counts rankings for searches nobody makes. Long, obscure keywords reach position one quickly and bring no orders.
A small budget is better spent on a narrow scope done properly. One option is a plan with a low monthly output and no contract, so you can stop when the numbers do not move. Another is a single project, such as an audit of the category tree, that your own team implements. See what an SEO audit costs for the second route and month to month SEO services for the first.
How to compare two package quotes
Put both proposals in one table and price each deliverable. The example compares a 2 000 USD package with a 3 500 USD one for a store with about 2 000 products.
| Package A, 2 000 USD | Package B, 3 500 USD | |
|---|---|---|
| New pages per month | 2 | 6 |
| Pages rewritten per month | 0 | 4 |
| Editorial links per month | 1 | 6 |
| Fixes implemented per month | Listed only | Up to 25 |
| Minimum term | 12 months | None |
| Setup fee | 1 500 USD | None |
| Committed spend before you can leave | 25 500 USD | 3 500 USD |
| Cost per page or link delivered | About 667 USD | About 219 USD |
Package A looks cheaper and costs three times as much per unit of work, with a year of commitment on top. This is the usual result when a low monthly price hides a long term and a thin scope. Ask for four numbers from every provider: pages per month, links per month, fixes implemented per month and the total you owe before you can cancel.
Rankings also bring the visit and nothing more. In categories where shoppers compare on price, the order goes to the store with the better offer, so it pays to run SEO alongside monitoring of competitor prices and to check your own product pages before paying for more traffic.
What a package has to earn to pay for itself
A package pays for itself when the extra gross profit from organic orders exceeds the fee. The sums are simple and worth doing before you sign anything.
| Monthly package | Gross profit per order | Extra organic orders needed per month |
|---|---|---|
| 1 500 USD | 40 USD | 38 |
| 1 500 USD | 100 USD | 15 |
| 3 500 USD | 60 USD | 59 |
| 3 500 USD | 150 USD | 24 |
| 7 500 USD | 80 USD | 94 |
| 7 500 USD | 250 USD | 30 |
Compare the last column with your current organic orders. A store that already gets 400 organic orders a month needs a rise of about 15 percent to cover a 3 500 USD package at 60 USD of profit per order. A store that gets 20 needs to quadruple, which takes longer and argues for the smaller plan first. No agency can promise the result, and the ones that guarantee a ranking are selling something else.
