Answer engine optimization that makes your page the answer
Answer engine optimization (AEO) structures your content so search engines and AI assistants can lift it as the direct answer: featured snippets, People Also Ask, voice results and AI answers. It is included from the Growth plan, run by a senior strategist and reported monthly in your panel.
More of your buyers now get an answer before they ever see a list of links. AEO decides whether that answer comes from your page, with your framing and your brand, or from someone else's.
- Prices on the page.
- Month-to-month.

What answer engine optimization actually covers
Answer engines are any surface that returns an answer instead of a list: the featured snippet at the top of Google, the People Also Ask boxes, voice assistants reading one result aloud, and AI answers in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. Each one needs a passage it can extract cleanly, trust, and attribute.
AEO is the discipline of writing and structuring pages so that passage exists and is easy to find. In practice that means:
Answer-first content
The direct answer sits in the first 40 to 60 words under a heading phrased as the question, followed by the detail, the exceptions and the proof.
Question coverage
We map the real questions buyers ask around each priority topic, group them by intent, and make sure each one has exactly one strong page that answers it.
Featured snippet formatting
Paragraph answers, numbered steps, comparison tables and definition blocks, matched to the format the result already rewards.
People Also Ask expansion
Follow-up questions answered on the same page, in the order a buyer would ask them, so one page earns several boxes.
Voice readiness
Short, self-contained sentences that still make sense when read aloud without the surrounding page.
AI answer extraction
Clear claims, defined terms, specific numbers with context, and sources that a language model can quote without guessing.
FAQ and HowTo structure
Visible FAQ and step-by-step sections with matching structured data, written for people first.
Entity clarity
Consistent names for your company, products and categories across the site, organization and product schema, and unambiguous definitions so engines know exactly who is answering.
How AEO differs from GEO
AEO and GEO overlap, but they are not the same job. AEO works at the level of the page and the passage: can this specific block be extracted as the answer to this specific question. GEO (generative engine optimization) works at the level of the brand: across many sources, do AI systems recognize you, cite you and recommend you when a buyer asks a broader question such as "which vendors should I consider".
You need both, and they share the same foundation of crawlable, well-structured content. Our AI search optimization page covers the GEO side: citation tracking, brand mentions and third-party coverage. This page covers how we make your own pages answer-ready.
Why answers matter for revenue
Answer surfaces take the attention that used to go to position one. If the answer quotes a competitor, your buyer meets their framing first, sometimes their pricing logic, sometimes their product name. That shapes the shortlist before anyone visits a website.
When the answer is yours, three things happen. Your definition of the problem becomes the default one. Clicks that do happen arrive pre-qualified, because the visitor already agrees with your framing. And your brand appears repeatedly across the research phase, which shows up later as branded search and direct demo requests.
What we deliver each month by plan
AEO work is part of AI search visibility, which is included from Growth. It draws on the same monthly page, refresh and technical fix allowances as the rest of your retainer, so we prioritize answer work where it moves revenue.
| Small | Growth | Scale | Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AEO and GEO work | not included, upgrade to Growth | included | included | included |
| AI search visibility checks per month | not included | 200 | 600 | 1 500 |
| New optimized pages or articles per month | 2 | 6 | 14 | 24 |
| Content refreshes per month | 2 | 4 | 8 | 12 |
| Implemented technical fixes per month (with CMS access) | up to 10 | up to 25 | up to 50 | up to 100 |
| Strategist | shared | shared | dedicated senior | dedicated senior |
Monthly scope resets at the start of each billing period. Unused deliverables do not roll over. On Small, AEO principles still shape every brief we write, but structured AEO work and AI visibility checks start when you upgrade. Upgrading in the panel charges the prorated difference immediately and the new scope starts the same day.
Our AEO process
- 1
Question map
Your strategist collects the questions buyers ask around your priority topics, from your keyword set, People Also Ask results, your support and sales FAQs if you share them, and AI answer prompts. Each question is assigned to one page.
- 2
Answer audit
We check which surfaces each question currently returns (snippet, PAA, AI answer), which source is cited, and why that passage wins: length, format, specificity, structure.
- 3
Rewrite and restructure
Our editors rewrite existing pages answer-first through monthly refreshes and build new pages where no strong page exists. Headings become the question, the first paragraph becomes the answer.
- 4
Structured data and entities
Our technical SEOs add or fix FAQ, HowTo, Organization, Product and Article markup where it reflects visible content, and tighten entity naming across templates.
- 5
Crawl access
We confirm that search and AI crawlers you want to allow can reach the pages, review robots.txt rules for AI crawlers, and maintain llms.txt as part of technical SEO.
- 6
Measure and iterate
AI visibility checks and snippet tracking show which answers are now attributed to you. Wins are reported, losses become next month's priorities.
Deliverables you can see
| Deliverable | What you see in the panel | Cadence |
|---|---|---|
| Question map | Every target question, its intent and its assigned URL | built at kickoff, updated quarterly |
| Answer-first rewrites | Each refreshed URL with status and a before and after note | monthly, within your refresh allowance |
| New answer pages | Brief, draft, published URL | monthly, within your page allowance |
| Structured data fixes | URL, schema type, validation status | monthly, within your fix allowance |
| AI visibility checks | Which priority questions cite you, which cite competitors | monthly, within your check allowance |
Every item lands on the deliverables board with its URL and status.
What you need to provide
- Read-only access to Google Search Console and GA4, connected in the panel through OAuth.
- CMS access with an editor-level role if you want us to implement changes directly. Without it, we hand over ready-to-paste copy and markup.
- Your real answers to the hard questions: pricing logic, limits, who the product is not for. Answer engines reward specifics, and only you know them.
What we do not do
- We do not promise that a given question will show your page in a snippet or an AI answer. Nobody controls those systems. We commit to scope and show you exactly what changed.
- We do not add FAQ markup to content that is not visible on the page, and we do not stuff pages with thin question lists.
- We do not publish answers we cannot support. If a claim needs a source or your approval, it waits for it.
- We do not try to manipulate AI systems with hidden text or prompt tricks. These tactics break, and they put your domain at risk.
FAQ
Is answer engine optimization different from regular SEO?
It builds on SEO rather than replacing it. Pages still need to be crawlable, relevant and trusted. AEO adds a layer on top: structuring each page so a specific passage can be extracted as the answer, and covering the full set of questions around a topic.
Will answer-first content reduce clicks to my site?
Some simple questions will be answered without a click, whether the answer is yours or a competitor's. The choice is whether your brand is the one quoted. We focus answer work on questions where being the cited source shapes a purchase decision, and we keep the detail, tools and next steps on the page so qualified visitors still click through.
Why is AEO not included in the Small plan?
Structured AEO work and AI visibility checks need monitoring capacity and more monthly pages and refreshes than Small provides. On Small we still write every brief answer-first. When you upgrade to Growth in the panel, the prorated difference is charged immediately and AEO scope starts the same day.
How do you measure AEO results?
We track featured snippet and People Also Ask ownership for priority queries, AI visibility checks across AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, and the organic revenue and leads from the pages involved where GA4 is connected. All of it appears in your monthly report in the panel.
Do you need access to our CMS?
No, but it makes the work faster. With an editor-level role we implement rewrites and markup directly. Without CMS access, our editors deliver ready-to-paste copy and structured data, and your team publishes. You can revoke access in one click at any time.
